From 2015 to 2019, Jay Mumford was doing interviews with drummers for the Red Bull Music Academy under the title Give the Drummer Some. Jay cites these interviews as a formative learning experience during his transition from the J-Zone section of his life to his career as a drummer. His first interview with George Brown from Kool and the Gang, Jay’s childhood heroes, resulted in his developing a friendship with Brown and the rest of the band. That relationship gave him the opportunity to glean tips about publishing and writing credits that guided him toward sustainable longevity in music.
